Goals 2012

Happy New Year, folks! How're y'all feeling? Hopefully not too hung over... ;)

Last year, these were my goals:
  1. Get more sleep
  2. Manage stress
  3. Learn/do yoga
  4. Listen to myself/mind/body
  5. Ask for help
  6. Learn something new (maybe how to *use* my camera?)
  7. Be kind to myself
  8. Be patient with myself
  9. Floss
  10. Stop negative self-talk
I did GREAT on 1, 2, um... well, 1 and 2. I at least *did* yoga a few times, and listening to my body was a convenient excuse a lot. I didn't learn how to use my camera, but I'm sure I learned SOMETHING new. Flossing was hit or miss (gotta get on that). And the rest, yeah, we just won't discuss those.  :-s

This year, I'm going to focus on one word instead...

Specifically self-love. I'm s l o w l y learning that I really, really need to learn to love and respect myself because beating myself up and treating myself like crap certainly hasn't worked. I'd really like to be able to see myself for the person so many of you see. I've got lots of self-help-type material to read and work through; I'm actually looking forward to doing the work.

What about you? Do you do resolutions? Goals? Focus word(s)? Are you looking forward to 2012, or will you miss 2011?

If you're bored, I did a year-in-review post full of pretty pictures. :) Pin It

  1. One of my goals this year is to minimize the stress, negativity, and anxiety...

Because when those things are present, that means some serious hair pulling

  2. I've settled on my word for this year (or maybe I should say it has settled on me, because it has literally been showing up everywhere the last few days) and I'm excited about it.

SO happy to say goodbye to 2011, and looking forward to 2012 being very different. And I really should add a flossing goal to my to do list for 2012, because it has been pretty hit or miss with me too ;-)

  3. Hmm, I'm looking forward to this year, but I also really enjoyed 2011. Last year was planning and experiencing the wedding and honeymoon, and this year is continuing to see how being married adds dimension to our lives. Plus, my niece was born, and she's amazing. ;-)

I'm not full of plans for the new year, but I do want to gain strength and endurance...those are the 'things' I most need to do.

Hoping/planning to finally do our Pacific NorthWest tour--been wanting to do that since 2008, but then we did the Midwest that year. ;p

Also would like to use our passports now that we have them...and I need to finish the paperwork to change my name. Because even though I'm a feminist, I've got ~8-10 reasons why it is okay or awesome to change...including pure coolness. ;p

  4. LOVE love for your word. And that photo of love? Love it, too. My word for the year is wholehearted. I want to do things because I love them and love what I am doing. I want to be in whole heart to what I choose to embrace and if my whole heart isn't there, let myself off the hook from doing it. Here's to love and whole heartedness in this new year!

  5. It's nice to hear I'm making progress, even if *I* don't necessarily see it (yet). Thanks, love. <3

  6. Last year breathing was so important for me to remember, I had it tattooed inside my wrist (no, really!). Great word. :)

  11. My word for the year is breathe. I plan to focus on slowing down and just remembering to breathe. If I can do that, I can lower stress, lower anxiety, and love my life more. Just. Breathe. :)
